In 2007, the Vaishnav Sadhu Society honored Her Holiness Sai Maa with the title of Jagadguru Bhaktimayi Meera Bai at the Ardh Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, India. Endorsed by the highly revered Sri Satuwa Baba Maharaj, Sai Maa is the first female to be awarded this prestigious title in India’s 2,700 years of the Vishnuswami lineage and the known history of the Kumbh Mela.

Located near the sacred Ganges River in Varanasi (Kashi), Uttar Pradesh, India, Kashi is recognized as the holiest city in India by Hindus and is one of the most ancient cities in the world. The Shaktidhaam will welcome students, seekers, and visitors alike year-round for spiritual rejuvenation, community life, education, and seva (selfless service).
Ashram life is an essential part of Sai Maa’s presence in the world. Sai Maa has had established ashrams in Betlar, a small village in the foothills of the Himalayas in India and in Crestone, Colorado in the United States where her brahmacharis and students lived for many years.

The monastic lineage of Sai Maa, the Order of Sai Maa Brahmacharya includes disciples living around the world who have taken lifelong vows to sustain a virtuous lifestyle of sadhana (spiritual practice) and service.
The Brahmacharis are a living ministry, embodying Sai Maa’s presence and shakti (cosmic, intelligent energy). Through their purity, devotion, and discipline, the Order is an active and energetic presence activating higher consciousness around the world and inspiring others to live their full potential.
Every breath of the Brahmachari, every cell that breathes in a Brahmachari is for God, Supreme, the Self, the Great Self. The purpose, the joy, the beauty of the devotion of Brahmacharya is the seva of enlightenment. – Sai Maa
Sai Maa works closely with respected pundits (Vedic priests) in creating yagyas (sacred fire ceremonies) that support purification and healing on multiple dimensions. Sai Maa actively and energetically uses the sacred fire to advance Sai Maa’s mission of global enlightenment. Sai Maa offers many types of yagyas.
In 2016, Sai Maa presided over one of the largest sacred fire ceremonies of our era in Japan—the Sai Maa 108 Maha Yagya held at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan. The Maha Yagya cleansed discordant energies within the planet and humanity’s collective consciousness. More than 150 pundits traveled from India to participate in the three days of ceremonies dedicated to world peace.
As a Jagadguru, Sai Maa has the honor of hosting a camp at each Kumbh Mela where Sai Maa hosts students from around the world who come for spiritual practice, and to offer selfless service. The next Kumbh Mela where Sai Maa will have a camp with the Mahamandaleshwar is Allahabad in 2025.
Sai Maa and volunteers will serve 60,000 meals to pilgrims, and Sai Maa will offer Darshan and specialized yagyas throughout the festival.

What is the Kumbh Mela?
Rotating among four locations in India—Haridwar, Allahabad, Trimbak-Nashik, and Ujjain—every 12 years, the Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering in the world. More than 80 million pilgrims participate in this event lasting several weeks.
The age of the Kumbh is unknown, yet it is thought to span several millennia. Pilgrims travel to bathe in each location’s sacred river at specific times of astrological alignment said to bestow the nectar of spiritual enlightenment and immortality.
