Mataji Provides Humanitarian Relief in India
On behalf of Her Holiness Jagadguru Sai Maa (Mataji) and the Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust, the Trustees, members, and staff of Shaktidhaam Ashram organized the distribution of food relief packets to many families who are in need and not able to work, such as rickshaw drivers and roadside sellers.
In a collaborative effort with local organizations and government officials in India, a total of 1750 packets were distributed to families on behalf of Sai Maa and the Trust. Each packet has enough food supplies for 5 people for 15 days, including rice, salt, sugar, dahl, masala, and oil. The coalition of organizations and Indian government plan to provide 75,000 of these packets, of which 45,000 have been distributed. Officials offering the aid include the District Magistrate of Varanasi, MLC Ashok Dawan, and local minister Neelkanth Tiwari, as well as politicians and businessmen.
From Anant Das Maharaj at the Shaktidhaam ashram in Kashi ~
“I had put a post out on Facebook encouraging support and caring for each other and inviting people to reach out. I received a message from my former Hindi teacher who shared about students she tutors, whom I’ve met, who were not receiving anything from the government as they were not officially registered.
I contacted our Trustee Abhinav Pandey and staff Manish, and through the work of Pandey, he connected our intention to serve to the local government project. Due to this, the slum area was one of the areas served, and the teacher sent me a message of thanks afterwards. Manish, on behalf of the ashram, was able to go to the slum group that had contacted me. Everyone was deeply moved - both those being served and those offering the service.”
From Manish Gupta (Ashram staff in Kashi, India)
“Today I saw tears in the eyes of some families, tears for happiness. I cannot tell you how much happiness I am getting today by giving a little happiness on their faces.
I went to the slum area and I saw all families very poor. As Mataji instructed, we provided them with the supplies they needed such as rice, salt, sugar, oil, masala. And I said to all the families, ‘This help is from Sai Maa and Sai Maa is my guru. Maa has sent a lot of blessings to all of you.’
One of the family members said to me that only one meal [each day] was being made in their house and they do not have money. ‘And now due to the blessing of Jagadguru Sai Maa,’ he said, ‘we have the groceries, and we are very happy with the blessing of Sai Maa. Now our family can eat for two times.’ ”
Her Holiness Jagadguru Sai Maa will continue with ongoing humanitarian work during this time of need, throughout India and other parts of the world. If you would like to be part of this humanitarian work, you may contribute here.
